摘要
The addition of 10% deep-sea water (DW) from a depth of 620 m, from which NaCl was eliminated, to the medium induced the best cellular growth and the highest activities of alkaline phosphatase (ALP) in MC3T3-E1 osteoblasts and tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP) in osteoclast-like cells compared with those induced by the control medium. The 45CaCl2 uptake in MC3T3-E1 cells was enhanced by media containing 10% DW (126%) compared with those induced by the control medium, whereas 45Ca uptake in osteoclast-like cells was suppressed. The results from the cell culture study indicated that DW stimulates both osteoblastogenesis and osteoclastogenesis, i.e., bone turnover. The administration of DW to SAMP6 and SAMR1 for 6 months improved the biomechanical properties of SAM mouse skeleton on three-point bending tests.
